In Ecclesiastes 7:8, Solomon says, "Better is the end of a thing than it's beginning...", and I believe this is true.
As of Saturday, November 6, 2021, we will begin the process of closing the Multitudes' Store Front. This decision was not an easy one and certainly was not short in coming. However, once I made the decision, a peace settled over me and I knew without a shadow of a doubt, that it is the right one.
I opened Multitudes over seven years ago and these past seven years have been a blast! I have loved being a part of our Historic Downtown Square, The Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, and the Waxahachie Downtown Merchant's Association. And, I have loved getting to know so many wonderful people who started as customers and now are counted as friends.
So, why close the storefront after surviving the pandemic? If you've read my past blog posts, you know I have been battling health issues. I have discovered that I am a person with a very compromised immune system and we aren't sure when it would be safe to return to the store. I am getting better, and seem to be responding to this second round of steroids; but, being careful in public is going to be a new normal for me...at least until we learn otherwise. I am ready to focus on getting stronger and getting back to my old self as much as I am able.
So, returning to Ecclesiastes and Solomon's wise words. I believe this verse means that endings are more important than beginnings because we can look back and see all that God has done for us, all that He has taught us, and how we have allowed Him to grow us. What a blessing! His hand has been on me and on this business from the beginning, and I can look back and see that and my faith is stronger.
